Over 45 years ago, a closed and boarded-up grocery storefront in Island Lake caught the attention of a veteran retail food family from Chicago.
The four Martucci brothers renovated the defunct business, and five years later, they took part in the groundbreaking of the Island Foods supermarket. Pictured here are the brothers, from the left: William, Fred, Nick and Leonard. They spent their lifetimes in the retail food business, and the hard work and dedication will continue in their memory.
